Mookie and the Texaswheel Buy-in

I played in two tournaments last night. First, I played in the Texaswheel Buy-in on VegasPoker247. For some reason, they did not charge anything, so it was a freeroll. This resulted in only the top 5 places paying instead of the advertised 18 places. With about 100 players in this thing, it was a challenge to make the money. I was doing really well throughout the whole tournament until we got to the final table. Then I went card dead and my steal attempts failed. I was slowly falling from top 3 in chips to bottom 2 in chips. Then the clouds parted, the light shone through, I was dealt pocket rockets. I got all my money in was ready to be second in chips, when the clouds moved back in, a jack came on the river, rain and sleet pounded from above, as my opponent's pocket jacks beat my pocket aces. Out in 9th with no money.

While this tournament was going on, I finally played in my second Mookie. I traded chips back and forth until I got pocket tens. A flop of KKx looked pretty good against my single opponent, but it was not. His big slick thumped me and I was out in 30th or some bad result like that (out of 38).

Tonight is my live tournament at the local bar to try to win another qualifier into the monthly cash prize tournament. If I am doing poorly, I may dump my stack to get into the omaha tournament that they also run. My omaha game is hot and my holdem is not.

For all you soccer fans out there, I will leave you with this great photo.
